  • Smartlog strengthens its presence in Portugal with the implementation of its first AutoStore system for Ferdinand Bilstein Portugal S.A., replicating the successful model of bilstein group in Zaragoza.
  • bilstein group Portugal gains in capacity, reliability, and sustainability, with a scalable system that multiplies storage by up to 400%, guarantees 99.7% availability, and reduces energy consumption.

Smartlog strengthens its presence in Portugal with the implementation of its first AutoStore system in the country for bilstein group. This solution follows the successful model developed in Zaragoza and will allow the Portuguese subsidiary to optimize its logistics operations, increasing efficiency and responsiveness in the market.

The bilstein group is a leading German manufacturer and distributor of mechanical and electrical parts for passenger cars and commercial vehicles with a strong presence in Europe. Its subsidiary in Portugal, located near Lisbon, manages a high volume of references and plays a key role in distribution to national resellers, who in turn supply multi-brand stores and workshops.

The comprehensive solution designed by Smartlog for bilstein group Portugal includes AutoStore, a robotic technology for storage and order preparation. With 20 robots and a capacity of 40,000 pieces in total, the system reduces waiting times and optimizes workflow. The installation also includes technologies to improve picking accuracy, ensuring agile and error-free operations.

And to achieve even greater logistics efficiency, Smartlog has integrated Galys, its own warehouse management software, which provides total control over logistics processes, improving availability, productivity, and service levels.

AutoStore is a robotic storage and order preparation system based on bins, which allows storing and managing picking tasks in an optimal and fast way. It is designed to handle large volumes of fast and slow-moving products, for high cadence picking and operations that require high storage density. AutoStore’s intelligent robots process orders, locate the bins containing the requested references, and transport them to the workstations for final preparation.

Thanks to the implementation of this technology, bilstein group Portugal will achieve the following benefits:

  • High density and efficiency: AutoStore multiplies storage capacity by up to 400%.
  • Reliability: Guarantees 99.7% operational availability, minimizing interruptions.
  • Increased productivity: Increases picking efficiency by up to 2.5 times, reducing preparation times.
  • Flexibility and scalability: Its modular design allows it to adapt to future needs.
  • Error reduction and improved customer service, ensuring faster and more accurate deliveries.
  • Sustainability: AutoStore is highly efficient, with 10 robots consuming the same energy as a vacuum cleaner.
