Sustainable, efficient logistics

LOGISTICS 5.0

Our commitment to a sustainable strategy

At Smartlog we believe that sustainability is strategic. We want to help to create a more sustainable future for all.

To this end, our holistic vision is based on four key pillars: governance, economics, society and the environment. These pillars reflect our commitment to creating long-term value for all our interest groups.

At Smartlog Group we want to make our small contribution to building a more sustainable, prosperous planet, and we are laying the foundations of our lines of action in the area of sustainability.

Environmental sustainability

We supply technologies that reduce our clients’ carbon footprint and boost their energy efficiency.

We implement robotics, automation and smart warehouse management systems to optimise use of resources, reduce waste and boost energy efficiency.

We use hybrid vehicles, we encourage the use of solar power and our facilities are designed to minimise their environmental impact. An example of all this is the installation of solar panels which allows us to save a considerable amount of energy and significantly reduce our CO2 emissions, supported by schemes such as the European Union Recovery and Resilience Facility.

Governance and economic aspects

We are committed to transparency, integrity and good corporate governance, implementing anti-corruption policies.

We have joined the UN Global Compact in Spain to reinforce our commitment to the Ten Principles on human rights, labour laws, the environment and combating corruption.

Our benchmarks for responsible business management are the principles of the Global Pact and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. We believe that sustainable, ethical management is crucial to our long-term economic viability.

These frameworks help us to focus our actions and establish a road map to follow.

Environment and energy

We keep up an open dialogue with social stakeholders, including universities and technology centres, to strengthen the business fabric, enrich our cooperation and boost our positive impact on society.

We have a total management system and hold ISO 9001 quality certification to prove our focus on constant improvement.

We strive to create work places and environments in which everybody can prosper. We promote diversity, gender equality, non-discrimination and work-life balance.

Our industrial health and safety culture reflects our commitment to welfare, guaranteeing a safe, motivating work environment, fostering a safe, ergonomic setting and using technology to reduce repetitive tasks.

We offer continuing training programmes for personal and professional growth, designed to foster key skills and make sure everybody is prepared for future challenges.

We are committed to knowledge management within the organisation. This approach enables us to have, distribute and use critical knowledge to drive innovation and boost our performance. We use collaborative digital platforms and our goal is to foster a culture of continuous learning and cooperation among our employees.

Example:

We have a weekly physiotherapy service to look after our people’s well-being, so fostering to healthier, more productive work environment.

We devote a week every year to what we call Smartlog Week, an event where we bring the whole group together. We run a range of activities aimed at knowledge, training and team-building. Our aim is to strengthen our business culture, foster unity within the Smartlog family and deepen our mutual knowledge while reaffirming our commitment to the organisation’s values and goals.

We are a Youth Employment host company. We are committed to social inclusion for both migrant and native young people. We form part of the childhood and youth protection and social inclusion network of the Gipuzkoako Foru Aldundia – Gipuzkoa Provincial Authority. Through this scheme we seek to smooth the path to adulthood for young people aged 16 to 23 by working on their social/employment skills and personal motivation, with the aim of having a positive impact on the development of personalised training paths and inclusion in the job market. Clients and consumers

We work to satisfy our clients and earn their trust by seeking sustainable mutual growth. Our projects cover the whole life cycle and reduce its environmental impact considerably.

We innovate and constantly seek pioneering technologies in order to anticipate our clients’ needs and offer maximum value. The consumer experience is very much a part of all the solutions we design and implement.

The solutions we implement are designed to maximise security for our clients, by means of safety devices and the use of advanced technologies like biometric identification and cybersecurity. They also contribute to better workplace ergonomics and eliminate the need for tasks involving effort and tedious activities. By reducing repetitive physical effort, our systems allow employees to focus on more strategic tasks that are less harmful to their physical health.

At the same time they empower employees and clients as they give them access to relevant detailed information to help them to take more informed, evidence-based decisions. This empowerment fosters greater autonomy and confidence, allowing people to maximise their impact and make a significant contribution to the success of their organisations.

Partners

Alliances with different suppliers or OMSs at global level play an increasingly strategic role at Smartlog. We seek to forge lasting relationships based on ethical principles and maximum professionalism. Fostering the reduction of social, ethical and environmental risks in the supply chain is our responsibility.

We have a system to assess suppliers in terms of compliance with deadlines, closeness and engagement in services and regulatory and legal compliance, among other factors.

We collaborate with suppliers, networks of technology centres, cluster, institutions, and training schools at local level to support industry and enterprise.

Our commitment to society

We are aware of our responsibility as a company. We work to create a positive impact on society. Currently our primary commitment is reflected in our concern for quality growth and wealth creation in the settings and countries where we work, and in our predisposition to collaborate with stakeholders in society.

Example:

Partnership agreement with the local women’s football team EIBAR FEM, an alliance that reflects our shared values of equality, perseverance and teamwork. Through this sponsorship we seek to support the development of women’s sport and promote the visibility of women in all parts of society, reaffirming our commitment to diversity and inclusion.

We also sponsor a sports team made up of people with a range of disabilities. This sponsorship not only facilitates its members’ active participation in sports competitions, but also sends out a powerful message of resilience and achievement.
