We start with the construction site of Nest, Smartlog’s innovation and talent center
Nest begins to be built in Urretxu as an epicenter of logistics innovation, technology and integral talent.
The construction of Nest, Smartlog’s new innovation and talent center, has begun. Located on a 10,000 m² plot in Urretxu (Gipuzkoa), this project represents a decisive step in the evolution of the organization. With an investment of 12 million euros and a built area of 6,000 m² distributed over three floors, it is scheduled to open in 2026.
Nest is born with a clear vocation: to become an international benchmark in logistics automation and a meeting point for talent, technology and applied knowledge. Its construction represents a new impulse in Smartlog’s commitment to a more intelligent, sustainable and people-centered logistics, betting on an integral talent approach that also contemplates personal development through sports. Each of its floors responds to a specific function, designed to respond to the current challenges of intralogistics and anticipate the challenges of the future. The building embodies a new way of understanding innovation, connecting people, knowledge and solutions in an environment designed for real development.
Ground floor: applied technological innovation
The first floor will be dedicated to innovation, experimentation and technological exhibition. Prototypes and real use cases related to predictive logistics will be displayed in an environment designed as a living laboratory. Customers, partners, startups and research centers will be able to develop and validate state-of-the-art technological solutions in a collaborative and open framework.
The focus will be on technologies such as mobile robotics, artificial intelligence, machine vision, 5G networks and IoT, applied to the optimization of intralogistics processes. Artificial intelligence will play a key role in predictive capacity, real-time analysis and continuous improvement.
First floor: training connected to industry
Nest’s first floor will be dedicated to talent development. It will have classrooms, laboratories and workshops where technical vocational training programs will be taught, as well as a Master’s Degree in Logistics Automation developed in collaboration with universities. The training will be dual, applied and oriented to the real needs of the industry.
In partnership with UGLE Eskola, it will offer vocational and intermediate cycles focused on mobile robotics, IT and logistics. In addition, this plant will have a specific space for technology startups linked to the logistics sector, creating an environment where entrepreneurs can develop solutions in direct contact with the industrial fabric.
Second floor: meetings, dissemination and transfer
The second floor is designed as a space for the dissemination of knowledge and the creation of synergies. It will host events, presentations and sectorial meetings that will bring together companies, startups, research centers and students around logistics innovation.
This environment will promote the exchange of experiences, technology transfer and the strengthening of collaboration networks, positioning Nest as a point of reference for the professional community in the sector.
Third floor: high performance and personal development
The third floor will be dedicated to a high-performance space linked to Smartlog’s U23 cycling team. This environment will integrate training, recovery and education in the same place, aligned with the organization’s integral talent strategy.
The project not only reinforces the commitment to the development of technical skills, but also to values such as self-improvement, balance and personal purpose. Sport is thus incorporated as a complementary way to cultivate talent in all its dimensions.
Territorial, economic and sectoral impact
Nest will play a driving role in the industrial, economic and social development of the Alto Urola region, Gipuzkoa and the Basque Country as a whole. Its start-up will boost the local economy by attracting investment, generating qualified employment and strengthening the business and technological fabric.
From a sectorial perspective, it will consolidate Smartlog as a benchmark in Logistics 5.0, promoting the adoption of advanced technologies and operating models based on efficiency, sustainability and welfare. Nest will be an active node between industry, educational centers, startups and technological agents, facilitating the transfer of knowledge and the creation of synergies.
It will also act as a bridge between the training environment and the professional world, directly connecting students with companies and real projects. This will reduce the gap between the supply of education and the demand for specialized technical profiles, accelerating the incorporation of new talent into the logistics sector.
A visual identity that comes from the building itself
Parallel to the start of construction, Nest is also presenting its new visual identity. This identity has been conceived not only as an aesthetic representation, but as a synthesis of everything that Nest means and contains. Nest is a vibrant ecosystem, a space of active coexistence between innovation, talent, sport, training and culture. And it is precisely this inner activity that shapes its identity.
Therefore, the logo design takes as a direct reference the architectural lines and design elements of the building itself. Each stroke reflects its structure, generating a clear visual coherence between the physical form of the building and the activity it houses. This integration seeks to reinforce the link between what Nest is and what happens inside it, translating its entire purpose to a graphic level.
The result is a visual identity with its own personality, aligned with Smartlog’s values, which projects Nest as an international reference center in logistics automation. A symbol that captures the essence of a lively and dynamic space, designed to connect technology, knowledge and talent.
