Conway The Convenience Company is one of the leading logistics providers in the convenience and foodservice sectors in Spain.
Logistical challenges
The foodservice sector demands strict delivery times and near-perfect product availability. Any error in order preparation or inventory management directly impacts end-customer operations, which increased the pressure on the accuracy and traceability of each SKU. The company needed a solution that would unify processes, improve picking efficiency, and ensure operational stability in the face of demand fluctuations, with the ability to scale without proportionally increasing resources.
Solution
At the core of the solution is an AutoStore system configured with a grid capable of holding 27,100 bins, each 330 mm high, and 56 robots. This high-density robotic storage system maximizes the use of available vertical space and shifts the operational paradigm toward the “product-to-person” model.
The Galys software, developed by Smartlog, centralizes inventory management and order planning, providing real-time information that facilitates operational and strategic decision-making. Galys acts as the central warehouse control system, integrating technologies such as AutoStore, conveyor systems, picking stations, and guided order preparation tools.
The implementation of the system has led to a substantial improvement in key operational metrics. The 40% reduction in order processing time directly increases responsiveness to demand, allowing for the management of higher volumes with the same resources. Inventory accuracy and availability of 99.5% eliminate stock errors and reinforce service reliability. The picking area has been reduced from 2,000 m² to 700 m², freeing up space for other operational needs, and productivity in the area has increased by 60%. Tasks that previously required two shifts are now completed in one.
