Vanguard Medical Logistics (VML) is a distribution company specializing in medical supplies and medicines, based in Panama. As a distributor in this sector, the company is positioned as a major player in the Panamanian market, meeting the supply needs of critical products for the healthcare sector and laboratories. Its strategic location in the Panamanian capital allows it to efficiently serve the entire country.
Logistics challenges
The company faced an urgent need to establish rigorous inventory control and product traceability, fundamental aspects in medicine distribution where accuracy and tracking are essential regulatory requirements. In addition, it sought to minimize human error in order preparation and reduce product losses, factors that directly impact profitability and service reliability, all within a limited space.
The main challenge was to efficiently handle the preparation of orders for both supplies and medical products, while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety required in this regulated sector.
Solution
Smartlog designed and implemented a solution based on Smartlift storage and order preparation technology, complemented by Galys software. The project included the installation of two Smartlift units in their M version, measuring 3,980 mm x 3,074 mm x 7,050 mm, specifically adapted to Vanguard Medical Logistics environment. Each unit incorporates 96 trays configured to optimize organization, improve accessibility and increase efficiency in reference management.
The implementation also included a pointer LED lighting system, which allows for precise product location.
The integration was completed with Smartlog’s Galys Auto software, configured to operate in an AWS cloud environment, including database, interface services and cloud system.
